Se habla español / Spanish spoken

¿A qué lugares del mundo podrías ir a hablar español? Quizás lo primero que te viene a la mente es España. O quizás piensas en algún país latinoamericano.

Lo cierto es que también puedes ir a África. Existe un país africano, muy pequeño, en el que casi todo el mundo habla español. Se llama Guinea Ecuatorial y tiene menos de un millón de habitantes.

En este país, el español es la lengua oficial y prácticamente todas las personas lo hablan. El español que se habla allí se llama español ecuatoguineano. 

¿Y quieres saber algo que te gustará del español que se habla en Guinea Ecuatorial? ¡Allá no usan la rr fuerte que usamos en los demás países para decir, por ejemplo, carro! Sólo se usa la r suave, la misma de cero.

Así que si tienes muchos problemas pronunciando la rr, quién sabe, ¡quizás puedas decir que eres de Guinea Ecuatorial!

Which places would you go if you wanted to speak Spanish? Maybe the first thing that comes to your mind is Spain. Or maybe it's just some Latin American country.

Truth is you can also go to Africa to speak Spanish. There is an African country -a very small one- where almost everybody speaks Spanish. It's called Equatorial Guinea and it has less than a million inhabitants.

Would you like to know something cool about equatorialguinean Spanish? They don't use the strong rr down there! Instead of the strong rr the rest of the Spanish speakers use to say carro (car), they use the soft r, the same it's used to say cero (zero).

So if you have a lot of trouble trying to pronounce the rr sound, who knows, maybe you could tell other people you've come from Equatorial Guinea!
